that the best thing would be to work on till art lovers feel drawn toward it of their own accord, instead of having to praise or to explain it. [vincent van gogh quote]

abstract literally means [365-142]

to draw from or separate. In this sense every artist is abstract... a realistic or non-objective approach makes no difference. the result is what counts.. [richard diebenkorn quote]

i tell you [365-141]

i tell you [365-141], originally uploaded by Esther Emma.

i tell you [365-141]

the more i think, the more i feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people. [vincent van gogh quote]

for the non-dutch speaking viewers:
huis = house and
open = open :-))

parnas - centre of the arts in leeuwarden, the netherlands
the name parnas finds its source in mount parnassus (greece). the mount became known as the home of poetry, music, and learning.
the name parnassus in literature typically refers to its distinction as the home of poetry, literature, and learning; the montparnasse area in Paris, France, for example, bears its name from the many literature students who recited poetry in the streets, who as a result nicknamed it montparnasse. :-) [wikipedia]

if the glass [365-137]

if the glass [365-137], originally uploaded by Esther Emma.

there in front of me astounds me more than all the glasses i've seen in painting, and if i even think that the greatest architectural wonder of the world couldn't affect me more than this glass, it's really not worth while going to the indies to see some temple or other when i have as much and more right in front of me. [alberto giacometti quote]

it's a long quote this time, but it has something i like very much
such as: there is so much beauty all around you,
it's waiting there till you see it. :-)
that kind of thing :-)

for photography is this a very inspring building.
my 365 uploads have several items made around this building.
the numbers 111, 114, 115, 136 for example :-)
the windowpanes are made of old glass and behind it they have placed new glass. it gives the most remarkables reflections, i so love. :-)

have a nice week, friends

For those who want to know more about this building :-)
The Hall of Leeuwarden is the City Hall Square to the Town Hall in Leeuwarden.

The town hall was built by carpenter Claas Bockes Black. The first stone was laid on April 1, 1715 through the three years old Willem Karel Hendrik Friso (1711-1751), Prince of Orange and Nassau. The building has a classical three-layered facade with 27 windows. Above the door in the state middle'risalit' in gold letters the inscription "Justitia et Pace" (Peace and Justice).

In 1760 a new hall at the rear building designed by Pieter de Swart. On August 12th the first stone was laid by William V of Orange-Nassau (1748-1806). In 1847 came at the site of the adjacent Hoofdwacht a building designed by Thomas Adrian Roman, in which the new Council Chamber was established. The Hall underwent several changes, including the landing. The painter Johan Leeuwarder Joeke Gabriel Wicher has made portraits of King William I, William II and William III. In 1914 the carillon placed an octagonal lantern.

On May 27, 2005 reopened Princess Margriet of the Netherlands from the City Hall after a restoration in 2002.

i don't express [365-135], originally uploaded by Esther Emma.

myself in my paintings. i express my not-self. [mark rothko quote]

the girl behind the pictures (IV)

(figment: a thing that someone believes to be real but that exists only in their imagination)
figment can be
an essential part of self-portraiting ;-)
maybe it has to do
in which way we want the world us, to see :-)

we'll truly never know,
how we are seen
through the eyes of others.

it is in the eye of the beholder?
maybe that's part of the truth

=
in a short way:
you still won't recognize me,
when meeting me on the street :-)
these are my glasses i wear to
read properly, view my captured photo's on the camerascreen :-)
and last but not least - know what i'm eating, ;-)

but NOT to find my way out there :-)

happily, finally meeting you :-)
